Survey for Uber Pick-up Times

Uber users experience pick-up times that vary by location and time-of-day. Autonomous vehicles are being tested by ride sharing companies, which may affect the future service you receive. By improving our understanding about Uber-type ride sharing, especially the pick-up waiting time, compared to driving and public transport, we can better measure its performance, predict future ridership and the trend of autonomous vehicle development in ride sharing.

If you have an active Uber account, we are asking that you anonymously share with us your historical trip data.

Your response will be very helpful to us if you can request from Uber and send us your anonymous trip data by July 31, 2019. If you are unable to respond by then, please send us the data at your earliest convenience after that date. The whole process should take about 5 minutes of your time to complete, and we thank you in advance for your participation.

Please use the following steps to download, and send us your anonymous trip data.

  1. In any search engine, type “Download your data Uber”; then click on “Download your data | Uber Rider Help” (top hit) from the search results
  2. On the next page, click “Request your personal Uber data”, and log into your Uber account
  3. After confirming your request for data, Uber will send you a “*.zip” file to your registered email address in about a week
  4. Once you have received your trip data from Uber, please send us only the trips_data.csv file from the ‘Rider’ folder. To send us the file, copy and paste https://www.dropbox.com/request/sk0Y2Wllgx952N6xTG7C into your browser’s address bar.

You can use a nickname and a fake email address for the Dropbox upload, so your identity remains anonymous.

This data includes trip origin and destination locations. While that data is outside the scope of the proposed analysis, and we will not have your name, if you are concerned about privacy, you may choose to include only the following columns before uploading the data:
